I believe in the future of retail and creating impactful, genuine relationships with team members to ensure a happy workplace. Here you will find several projects that I initiated and completed during my time as an Assistant Manager at Mejuri.
Hiring and Onboarding
Since my start in March of 2021, I have hired and onboarding 8 of our part time team members, 2 of which have left to pursue full time positions at different companies, and now of the 8 being promoted to a Keyholder Full Time position. This is the area in which I thrive. Creating that connection between the team and the company is what makes retail enjoyable. When the team is happy and passionate, the work comes easily. Making sure that my team is properly trained before stepping on the floor and ensuring that any one of the leaders is always ready to step in should they have any questions or problems is what creates a genuine work environment.
"Week in Review" : Daily Check in System
One of my passions in retail, is ensuring that my team feels comfortable, safe, and happy to come to work. I quickly realized that at my store, our team members were clocking in and immediately stepping on to the floor. There wasn't any sort of check in system to make sure the team was set up for success or had any time to discuss any issues that may have been going on in their personal lives. I created the "Week in Review" as a way to blend this system of checking in with the team and making sure expectations were set, whether it be letting them know how close we were to making our goal for the week or asking everyone what their favorite reality show was (RHOA for me!), the Week In Review was a time where the team could have a breather before jumping in to a work day.
People and Incentives
I wanted to make sure our holiday budget was being allocated in the best way possible, so I had my team write "Letters to Santa" with any gifts that they had wanted. We were able to allocate $50 to each team member and find some very special personalized gifts for each of them. In addition to this, I found a way to creatively merge our sales goals and hustle on the sales floor. I created different contests to such as an Average order Value Bingo and Conversion Bingo to help hit any KPIs that needed improvement. Through and through, we saw that these incentives helped push the team further to ensure we were making our sales goals.
Organizational Projects
When starting with the company, the team had little direction on maintaining cleanliness and the ability to evenly delegate tasks to ensure a clean workplace. To solve these two problems, my operations lead (who had the knowledge of our supplies and quantity of items) along with my creative and visual skills were able to create a restructuring of our BOH workspace. To solve the problem of tasks not being evenly and fairly dispersed, I began to implement a checklist that myself and manager added daily activities to complete for leaders and stylists alike.
Accountability: Within the Team & Company-wide
One of my core values is to always be transparent with my team and to hold myself accountable to doing what is right. When I learned there were a couple of issues within our onboarding, and some diversity and inclusion projects that were no longer in practice, I quickly met with the right HQ partners to make changes. Through our meeting I was able to discuss my points and suggest changes that I believed needed to be implemented. Within my team, I am continually setting expectations with every single team member to ensure the team is working together towards the same goal and that the work is always distributed equally.
Social Media
I have made several assists for the brand including Instagram stories, posts, and even a TikTok. For the Instagram stories, I went through several different products I thought would make lovely Mother's Day gifts. For my TikTok, I showed off some of my favorite diamond pieces.
